A 3kg object is released from rest.
At the foot of the ramp is a spring of force constant k=100 N/m. The object is placed next to the spring, compressing it a distance x before coming to rest.

(a) Find x
(b) Does the object continue to move after it comes to rest? If yes, how high will it go up the slope before it comes to rest?

Answer: no. There is a duck in the way.

Top marks Sam if you were in my class.

Volume repair. The volume bin map information and free volume block count available had not quite add up. Don’t ask me precisely what this means, but it has affected internet connection. Actually, how Safari handles browsing.

The symptoms – the browser “hangs” only after a few minutes of browsing. No server connection error messages displayed. Other program requiring internet connection continues to process away, providing information as required.

However booting up in the single-user mode and running a system check like / sbin/fsck -fy automatically detects minor errors and modifies the system files.

Voila! All is well with the MacBook now. Life continues.

I have a confession to make. Wait for it. Shhhhhh. But I’m a fanboy.

I revel in delight at the seemless integration of products that bear no resemblance to the edible fruit it lends it’s name to.

The aesthetically designed casings, the strong placement of the logo, the marketing hype and strategy all lead to a desirable brand.

But what makes it ultimately appealing is it’s ease of use. It just plains works. No jargon authorization. No buggy software. And no more BSOD.

That coupled with the Gen Y’s quick adaptation to technology and brand status, makes Apple a global leader in computing. And in music. And in TV. Oh, and in mobile phones.

So much so, endless Mac “converts” preach to the masses on a daily scale. Why hire a sales and marketing team when you have the best marketing team in your fanboys?

Alas, who will continue to pit PC guy next to Mac guy? ;)

The inaugural post, written on the iPhone comes at a time my Safari has “lost” internet connection with the outside world. Left to my own naked devices, I can somehow remotely connect through my wifi.

But how does this happen? The signal is strong. IM programs continue to run. Mail continue to pour through. Yet internet browsing cannot be accomplished.

Once again, the iPhone saves the day. I guess this post is two-fold – 1) to keep this blog iPhone-centric, and 2) to be one step constantly online and updated.

Technology is always around us. It will never leave, no matter how intricate, delicate or seemless or unseen. You may not understand it, but you must appreciate it.

The sewers belch me up
The heavens spit me out
From ethers tragic I am born again
And now I’m with you now
Inside your world of wow
To move in desires made of deadly pretends
Till the end times begin

Is it bright where you are
Have the people changed
Does it make you happy you’re so strange
And in your darkest hour, I hold secrets flame
You can watch the world devoured in it’s pain
Strange

Climb my ribcage to
The replays run for you
Unhook my lights to peek behind the flash
For I am crystal chrome
I am shatter dome
I am kremlin king of angels avenged

To destroy the end
